Salut! 👋

I'm Alexandru, and I like to build things. You can also call me Andu (pronounced as undo). Originally from Romania, now based in London, UK.

These days I'm focusing on a problem I've had (and kept turning over) for a while now, mainly how to capture what I find interesting (whether it's something in an article, an Instagram post announcing a concert in a couple of months, a product that catches my eye) and how to surface it later, at the right time. I'm also exploring how to fix my own daily note-taking without the overhead of a complex system. With the advent of AI tools, I'm looking at how I can leverage them to extract clarity from all the noise.

To that end, I've been building InstaKobo (and its reMarkable sibling, InstaRM), to help me tackle the ever-growing list of articles that I've been accumulating over the years. I'm building a "yet another take" on a bookmarking system where I can throw any interesting link, and that can not only self-organise but also remind me of looming deadlines, whether it's a concert or an exhibition, or extract relevant information from my collections of interesting TikToks. I'm also building Incunable, a low-friction self-hosted EPUB manager with first-class Kobo sync.

Apart from that, I've been slowly trying to get back into game development (working on a Playdate game), learning the theremin, making music with odd things such as GameBoys and DIY synths with SID chips, exploring functional programming more (a long-running interest of mine), and picking up Go and Swift.

In a previous life, I cofounded the Romanian Drupal Organisation and spent years promoting Drupal (at home and abroad), teaching it at the University of Bucharest, organising and speaking at conferences and various meetups. I was a core contributor and a co-maintainer of the search module, and open-sourced more than 15 modules.
